The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies who has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special. Someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, you rhands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
You then cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be seperated again.
To those who have touched our hearts.

A Time For Sadness: Let me tell you about my Tessa. Tessa came to Father Natures with more problems than any little fuzzy should endure. We picked her up from the county shelter after some one turned her in as a stray. Tessa was so horribly infested with fleas; she was anemic from the blood loss. Her once beautiful sable coat was thin and patchy. She was also suffering from insulinoma and adrenal cancer. We put her on Father Natures Duck Soup and she started to put on weight. Her advanced condition and age made her a poor candidate for surgery, but we were determined to try and make whatever time she had left comfortable. We wanted to show her that she was loved. Tessa had the best of everything we could provide. Evelyn provided round the clock feedings every 3 hours but Tessa was just too sick. Early one morning Tessa showed signs of paralysis in her hind legs and was unable to get around to potty. We immediately drove to our 24hour Vet Dr. Michael at Lyndhurst Animal Hospital. After a close exam he concluded that she was now suffering. Evelyn and I could not hold back the tears. I held her close in my arms and asked her what she wanted me to do. Tessa’s eyes told me she was too tired and hurt to go on, she wanted to be whole again, healthy, and to play with others at the Rainbow Bridge. With the Doctors help she passed to the bridge painlessly while I held her warm and comfortable in my arms. Tessa was a fighter and the only consolation I can find is that maybe we gave here peace in her last days on earth. I am a better person for having had the pleasure to care for her and I will look for my Tessa when it is my time to cross the bridge. To see her bright eyes and once again shiny coat as she runs to meet me… Tessa we miss you so…
